Culture Critique: Black Friday

On November 28, 2019November 28, 2019 By qlmcadamIn OpinionLeave a comment

Ah, Black Friday. A day right on the heels of Thanksgiving that promotes our need want for more than what we already have. Oh, and you can get the lowest prices of the entire season, so that validates the gratitude we expressed the day before because, I mean, it's on sale. On top of that, …

Culture Critique: All About Image

On October 24, 2019October 24, 2019 By qlmcadamIn OpinionLeave a comment

Superficial: external or outward; shallow, not profound or thorough; apparent rather than real. *In the spirit of this post, please enjoy accompanying images I've taken that were never meant to end up on the Internet* I'm guilty of it on my own Instagram: I love creating an aesthetic in how my feed looks. This goes …

Back to Basics

On October 22, 2019October 22, 2019 By qlmcadamIn CreativityLeave a comment

When I was in third grade, my teacher made an exciting announcement: we were able to submit our own creative writing to my school's literary magazine. If our writing got picked, we would be published in the magazine available to the whole school. As you might be able to imagine, the thought of that left …

Excuses, Excuses

On October 11, 2019October 11, 2019 By qlmcadamIn CreativityLeave a comment

My creativity intimidates me. It sounds backwards and odd when I actually write it out, but it's true. Something that used to be my escape is now something I fear. But I don't think it's necessarily the creativity or the writing (in my case) themselves that incite this fear; it's the potential for failure. In …

Alright, so you all may know that I absolutely adore cats. I have my Misty, and she's such a cutie. But today, we're talking about the Broadway musical CATS. If you're familiar with it, then you've likely seen the preview for the newest version set to hit the big screens in December. The original version …

Digging into an opinion, a discussion, and an analysis on a phenomenon. What do you think about Black Friday? Link in bio 🛍
•Find my latest blog post, “Going in Afraid”, at the link in my bio• ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ What does it mean to capture a moment? No, really. We always see the final product, but how about the initial inspiration? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is your process to creation? Mine involves fear right now. I’ve become fearful of my own creativity, and it’s been silencing me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Creativity leaves a lot to be decided and a lot to be imagined. It can be daunting if we let our vision for creation be overcome by its own shadow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But now, I’ve had it with fear. I’m going in afraid. Won’t you join me? 🦇
A little inspiration for your Monday ✨ Find the things in life that sparkle, and be inspired 💎 See the things that are dull, and be inspired all the same ⚓️
A little update on life 🕯The content I’ll be publishing for the rest of 2019 is solid, and it’s really going to set up what I have in mind for 2020. So much to come. This is just the beginning of Word Oasis.
You know, putting yourself out there in an earnestly vulnerable way never becomes easy. Baring your soul to the world will always feel raw and ragged. 🕸BUT🕸 There is something so dually freeing and exhilarating about it. It’s exhausting and sacred, and always so real. There is a burning light shone on the deepest cracks of our existences, and yet it seems to sparkle. 🕸BUT🕸 As complicated as it is, we must keep expressing. Keep creating. Keep publishing. Keep reminding of the stories. Of the inspiration. Of the seamless beauty that remains. Keep going, creators. The world needs us.
This is my new era. It’s been awhile since my writing has been consistent enough to constitute an era, but here we are. 🕸 I’m entering into a new vibe, a new facet of my expression. I couldn’t be more excited to share a peek into that in tonight’s blog post. 🕸 I’m feeling haunted these days, and in the best way. Much more writing to come; it’s already bubbling up. Link, as always, is in my bio if you want to find out more.
